A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell.
He painted a sign advertising the 4 pups and
set about nailing it to a post on the edge of
his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the
post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked
down into the eyes of a little boy.
"Mister," he said, "I want to buy one of your puppies."
"Well," said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat
off the back of his neck, "These puppies come
from fine parents and cost a good deal of money."
The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then
reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a
handful of change and held it up to the farmer.
"I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take
a look?"
"Sure," said the farmer. And with that he let out
a whistle. "Here, Dolly!" he called..
Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran
Dolly followed by four little balls of fur.
The little boy pressed his face against the chain
link fence. His eyes danced with delight. As the
dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy
noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse.
Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up...
"I want that one," the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said, "Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would."
With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg and a specially made shoe.
Looking back up at the farmer, he said, "You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands."
With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up the little pup.
Holding it carefully he handed it to the little boy.
"How much?" asked the little boy. "No charge,"
answered the farmer, "There's no charge for love."
The world is full of people who need someone who
understands.

We started summer time in Brazil, which I like the most but many people don’t. I like daylight very much. So, I can walk on the beach when it is clear at night. The beaches have lights, but in summer time we have an hour forward. Well, this is a matter of taste.
It poured rain so much last Saturday that I had to close the windows for not wet inside. Today it stopped raining.

There was a huge nut tree by the cemetery fence. One day two boys
filled up a bucketful of nuts and sat down by the tree, out of sight,
and began dividing the nuts. "One for you, one for me. One for you,
one for me," said one boy. The bucket was so full, several rolled out
towards the fence. Cycling down the road by the cemetery was a third
boy. As he passed, he thought he heard voices from inside the
cemetery. He slowed down to investigate. Sure enough, he heard, "One
for you, one for me. One for you." He knew what it was. "Oh my god!"
he shuddered, "It's Satan and St. Peter dividing the souls at the
cemetery!" He cycled down the road and found an old man with a cane,
hobbling along. "Come quick!" he said, "You won't believe what I
heard. Satan and St. Peter are down at the cemetery dividing the
souls." The man said, "Shoo, you brat! Can't you see I'm finding it
hard to walk as it is!" After several pleas, the man hobbled to the
cemetery and heard, "One for you, one for me. One for you, one..." The
old man whispered, "Boy, you's been tellin' the truth! Let's see if we
can see the Devil himself." Shivering with fear, they edged toward the
fence, still unable to see anything, but they heard, "One for you, one
for me. One for you, one for me. And one last one for you. That's all.
Let's go get those nuts by the fence, and we'll be done."
They say the old guy made it to town 10 minutes before the boy!

It is foggy today. The rain gave us a break. The same rain that didn't allow Our Lady of Monte Serrat Hill to go up to the church on her feast last September 8th.
Mont Serrat Church is on São Jerônimo Hill. We can see the whole island from there. I will go there to take pictures and record the funicular street bond.

HOW TO BE GRACIOUS!
Jennifer's wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen her excitement -- not even her parent's nasty divorce. Her mother had found the PERFECT dress to wear and would be the best-dressed mother- of-the-bride ever!
A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that her father's new young wife had bought the exact same dress as her mother! Jennifer asked her father's new young wife to exchange it, but she refused.
'Absolutely not, I look like a million bucks in this dress, and I'm Wearing it,' she replied.
Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, 'Never mind sweetheart. I'll get another dress. After all, it's your special day.'
A few days later, they went shopping and did find another gorgeous dress.
When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, 'Aren't you going to return the other dress? You really don't have another occasion where you could wear it.
Her mother just smiled and replied, 'Of course I do, dear. I'm wearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding.'
NOW I ASK YOU - IS THERE A WOMAN OUT THERE, ANYWHERE, WHO WOULDN'T ENJOY THIS STORY?

These are the pictures of my daughter's birthday. The sweeties on the table are "Brigadeiros (chocolate) " and "Beijinhos", which are Brazilian ones. Brigadeiro is a sweet made with condensed milk, a spoon of butter, and chocolate and Beijinho is made with condensed milk,a spoon of butter and coconut. I love beijinhos (little kisses in English) but my favorite is 'olho de sogra' or Mother-in-law's eye or Vanilla fudge with plum.

Noah and the bunnies
These little bunnies, about 6 days old, were attacked by a dog and orphaned. Two out of the litter of five did not survive, and these three were not doing very well.
Noah is a non-releasable, one-legged homing pigeon that we have here in rehab. Noah kept going over to the bunny cage and looking in...even sleeping in front of the door to the cage..
Then, 2 days ago, I only counted 2 bunnies in the cage, so I hurriedly picked Noah up from the front of the cage so I could look inside.. And to my surprise....there was the tiny bunny...under Noah's wing...sound asleep! The bunny had crawled through the cage....preferring a featherbed, no doubt..
Now, they are all together, and the bunnies are doing GREAT. When the bunnies scoot underneath Noah's feathers, he extends his wings out to surround them and they snuggle. When one of them moves and they start sticking out here and there, he gently pushes them back under him with his beak!!!!! This is amazing!!!

A king who becomes a grandfather who gives the best for his grandsons. A grandfather who becomes a grand-grandfather [...} My father passed out in 1986, but I'm sure he is here watching me.

Ferrari Driver, Felipe Massa’s condition is now said to be stable, but an injury to his left eye has now put his F1 future in doubt. The young Brazilian driver who just lost out to Lewis Hamilton last year in the drivers’ championship fractured his skull during qualifying on Saturday of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Massa was hit on the head by a spring that flew of fellow countryman, Rubens Barrichello’s Brawn GP car. His helmet took a lot of the impact, but it still took a big chunk of the helmet off and a piece of Massa’s Skull had hit his brain.
Thankfully, it now seems that Felipe Massa is on the mend, According to This is London, Robert Veres, the surgeon who operated on Massa said that the Formula One driver suffered some damage to his left eye, but as yet they do not know the extent of the damage.
It is now looking like Massa will miss the rest of the season; we now wait to get any further updates on his condition. We hope that Felipe Massa has no lasting damage to his eye, it would be so sad for a young driver with a great talent not to carry on at what he loves, and that is to race.
Our thoughts are with his whole family, especially his wife, as they are expecting their first child together.

]]>Who is Pauê? Pauê is Paulo Eduardo Chieffi Aagaard, nicknamed Pauê by his maternal grandmother, liked sports when was a child. He is a biamputated thriathlet and surfer who attends many events and lectures telling his life experience and motivational themes.
Pauê was hit by a train crossing a railway in São Vicente – a city next to Santos – in 2000. He lost both legs, but this accident transformed his life by surpassing hurdles and limits.
Surfer since a child, he wanted to ride the waves again and he found on swimming and muscular exercise a means of accelerates the process of rehabilitation. No more than three months, not only restarted walking but also surfing through physiotherapy, determination and persistency and became the first and unique surfer in the world.
He is a thriathlet who won many contests, but he is a champion of life showing us how to face some tricks of life bravely. You are a winner Pauê!

Frog Fountain is a place where the children can ride their bikes, play, and so on while the parents chitchatting.
